Pop Montreal, who are in charge of programming The Montreal Sessions this month, featured performances by Year Of Glad and NOKO and an interview with MagicPerm on their episode yesterday. If you missed it, you can catch the madness on our archives.
The idea behind The Montreal Sessions is to give the community access to the air waves, and every month a different entity provides programming on Tuesdays from 3-5pm. Stay tuned for next weeks session, brought to you again by Pop Montreal!
What a rainy day. The sky just turned a crazy shade of gold and is quickly fading to blue. Ahhh, October.
Year of Glad is in-studio to play some tunes, that’ll be sweet. And Sea Oleena heads to CMJ next week so let’s air a little interview with that lass about her third forthcoming album.
Lastly, we have footage from the Polaris Prize symposium at Pop Montreal to share. My bud Erik Leijon was a panelist, he’s a good dude. Also, Steve Jordan (guy who founded the prize) said no radio show would air a 20-minute Godspeed track which I took as a personal challenge; that’s the way CKUT rolls/trolls.

Today from 3-5pm, Year of Glad’s Alexandre Bergeron brings us another amazing week of programming. Sam Rosenberg (from locals Slight, Late Lunch, etc) will co-host this week and “share his thoughts on urban decay and dance music.” Sam R being one of the better DJs the writer of this blog post has ever seen, should make for some A+ radio. Finally, Montreal supergroup of sorts The Moment will be performing live in-studio. The band features James Irwin (whose solo album Western Transit was called “the best LP of any unsigned act in Montreal” by Sean of Said The Gramophone), Adam Waito (Adam and the Amethysts), and Nic Scribner (Clues). Don’t miss it.
Alex Bergeron, Year of Glad mastermind, will be hosting his second installment of “Church of the Air” this afternoon on our Montreal Sessions!! He’ll be having plenty of special guests on air from 3 to 5PM local time. Matt Legroulx of EXPWY and a few of his Kinnta Records cohorts will be joining him in the studio. Dam Ships will also be doing a live performance of the floor, don’t miss it!!
