Total Eclipse Of The Charts

Total Eclipse Of The Charts

Had the world’s busiest weekend – had practice w/ two different bands, worked door at two shows (including a super rad Rock Camp for Girls fundraiser), saw Ultrathin play a killer gig at 3am, put up some houseguests visiting from Ottawa, meetings, mad apartment-cleaning, etc etc etc. ‘Tis the season in Montreal: Mutek ended just in time for Suoni to begin, and there’s no end in sight. It’s a good time to be living in this city.

Check out our Mutek coverage, Suoni ticket giveaways, in-studio footage, and much more – all documented for yr ears and eyes on the ckut music blog: http://music.ckut.ca/

I am out of the office this Thursday and Friday so please send in your tracking by email this week.

Smoked Meat Fax Machine

Thursday August 11
I always thought that if smoked meat could make music it would sound like a fat man’s tears. Turns out it’s much sexier than that thanks to resident beat artist John Constantinides, aka Smoked Meat Fax Machine. Check him out tonight at Casa del Popolo with fellow electronic lettuce haters Miramichi, and  Motem.   Doors 8:30 pm.  $?

Memory Tapes

Friday August 12
You can always count on Club Lambi and its classy post Bar Mitzvah party interior to put on a decent show on a Friday night. This Friday is no exception with a night of indielectro lined up courtesy of Memory Tapes. Enjoy a Shirley Temple or two, and Mazel Tov on making the right choice on this one, kids. It’s all part of growing up.

Saturday August 13
Head over to Le Divan Orange and check out local French electro pop outfit Neiges and Mother Russia’s experimental progeny Gustafson.  That’s as good a May-December lineup as any. 10 pm.

Sunday August 14
What to do on a Sunday night?  Check out Digitalism at the SAT, and you’ll be the envy of the water cooler come Monday morning. Doors: 8 pm. $ 32.00 to $ 35.00

Gary Clark Jr.

Monday August 15
Austin’s Gary Clark Jr., acclaimed by many as the saviour of blues, will playing Le Divan Orange Monday night. This shit’s legit. 10 pm. $ 13 in advance, $15 at the door.

$$$ Free Money $$$

Tuesday August 16
Free DJ night with Nao Identificado at Casa, anyone? No complaints here.  Casa del Popolo. 9:30 pm.

Ice Age

Wednesday August 17
Iceage, Slobs, Ultrathin and Deadwife will be serving up a whole lotta punk rock Wednesday night at Casa del Popolo . If you can handle it, doors open at 8:30, and all that anarchy will only run you a 9 piece. What. a. steal.
