For November’s final instalment of If You Got Ears, your host Martin Rodriguez is gonna’ school us on sampling. Diving off the deep end into the pool of influential sonic innovators, we’ll hear about crazy connections between pioneers like Raymond Scott, J Dilla and Sun Ra.

Also on the program is Concordia Electroacoustics alumn Peter van Haaften, who doubles as a sound artist and political scientist. Check out some of his otherworldly electronics below…

Martin Rodriguez will curate IYGE with the theme: “Under the Influence” this November. The show will explore how our cultures and environments have influenced our musical vocabulary through the appropriation of culture and technology.

Today from noon to 2pm, tune in for special programming about the influence of folklore music on electronic production, with examples from Pierre Kwenders, Clap! Clap!, Toast Dawg, Chico Mann, Chancha Via Circuito. Also, listeners will be treated to an interview and performance from local experimental artist Engone Endong. All this at 90.3!

Local experimental multi-instrumentalist Martin Rodriguez will be your host on If You Got Ears for the month of November. Throughout his radio residency we’ll be hearing adventurous sounds from legendary electroacoustic pioneers and new kids on the block. This week, bassist Jeremi Roy will be the in-studio guest – tune in noon to 2pm.
