Montréalive :: Femmaggots ++ She Divides!

Hey Radio Pals,

While the main focus these days around the station is on our annual funding drive, we’ve also recently dusted off our collaboration-shoes and started working with our good friends over at TVM to bring you a brand new series of videos featuring some of the incredible music that graces our streets, venues and airwaves here in Montréal.

As you may have guessed from the title of this post, we’re calling the series Montréalive.

We’ve already posted the first two videos, and many more are on the way!

First up: The notorious Femmaggots with their infectious tune Parrot.

And second, local synthy space cadets She Divides, bringing the haze in a converted garage.

Keep it Locked on the music blog for more videos from the series coming your way soon!

Wanna get involved? Hit us up!

Femme Maggots

May 7th, 2013: CKUT TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE CHARTS:

Femme Maggots

Hey friends,

Still shaking off the last bit of sleepiness after an early morning remote broadcast from a cafe/laundromat featuring a live performance from local CKUT pals the Femme Maggots (above) — no time for sleep, too much going on around Montreal these days. Over the weekend I caught two nights of good noise at the Cool Fest, celebrated the birthday of beloved local performance space the Plant at a big fete its residents put together, hung out in the sun, jammed a whole bunch, plotted new collaborative projects∑ precursors of a good summer to come.

For those of you in Montreal, we hope to see you at our 25th anniversary celebration going down this Saturday at Sala: live performances, DJ sets from the CKUT crew, cake, and more rad stuff that can only be experienced in person. Full details here: http://ckut.ca/c/en/node/349

till next week

Total Eclipse 4/30

April 30th, 2013: TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE CHARTS

Total Eclipse 4/30

Montreal is gorgeous these days and now that everyone is finally shaking off the last traces of winter hibernation, the city is abuzz with shows and other happenings∑ In the past week, I caught Baltimore stoner/psych wizards Needle Gun, local pals the Femmaggots and Ought, Colleen Green, acoustic singer-songwriter Swampwolf, and more that I’m forgetting — this mini-heatwave plus an ongoing bout of insomnia has got my brain fuzzier than usual.

get outside if it’s sunny where you are.

March 26 – CKUT TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE CHARTS

fem maggots

Hey friends,

Back in town after a quick little trip out west, playing gigs in Kingston and Toronto (how are both those cities full of so many amazing folks? seriously!) and enjoying the long-awaited springlike weather here in Montreal. Of course, I’m playing mad catch-up around the office now, so keeping this short for today – charts below.
