Arbutus Records has just released the debut EP by Toronto artist Lydia Ainsworth. The four track EP ‘Right From Real – Pt. 1′ launches June 10th, 2014 and uses an amalgamation of different music styles. Drawing from orchestral, electronic and pop music genres, Ainsworth provides four unique songs that display a particular sound unlike any other, blurring the lines from traditional and new music while not landing on one distinct style. As a singer, composer and producer, Ainsworth’s Right From Real – Pt. 1 is definitely an EP you should check out this summer.

Lydia Ainsworth will be performing on Thursday June 12th, 2014 at the Slut Island Festival, located at Rialto Theatre. Doors Open at 8pm. Stream the EP here.

People make a few songs, they send them to their friends, and then their musical careers end. The songs that they make are not always bad!

Local artist and musician Jasper Baydala hosts the Montreal Sessions on CKUT for the month of May(Tuesdays 3-5pm). Jasper has a large collection of unreleased music from a wide variety of unknown and very talented Canadian artists and plans to play it out over the radio every Tuesday between 3pm and 5pm. Also, Jasper happens to be roommates with the fellows who run Arbutus Records and thus has access to the very latest material from the likes of Sean Nicholas Savage, Blue Hawaii, Pop Winds and the Silly Kissers – some of which will be brought on the show to share their own strange collections of never-really-before-heard music.
