CKUT TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE CHARTS::: January 14, 2014

artsbirthday

Hey all,

We here at CKUT are getting real psyched for this year’s edition of Art’s Birthday — we’re gonna be throwing a huge party on Friday at Brasserie Beaubien (73 Beaubien est) with installation art, cake, and more music than yr ears can handle. Local superstars Nouveau Zodiaque, Aim Low, Freelove Fenner, Fakes, Moonhag, and the CKUT Circuit Workshop will be taking the stage to celebrate ART in all its wild sonic glory. Dig it, Montreal.

US Girls Interview

This week on New Shit, we had a chance to catch up with Meg Remy, the artist behind the deceptively-pluralized project US Girls.  The American ex-pat turned Toronto-resident caught a lot of airplay here with her newest release (out now on Last Gang Records), the Free Advice Column EP.  Check the interview below to hear Meg talk about not listening to contemporary music, growing comfortable with your voice, touring on a greyhound, feeding touring artists, and some exciting new projects/collaborations she has store…
