July 16th, 2013: CKUT TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE CHARTS

Hello radio,

The heatwave continues in Montreal and it has necessitated many park beers and a steady diet of ice cream & popsicles. I also caught a bunch of live music over the weekend, including a great set from CJLO pals Aim Low, and played a gig in a blissfully air-conditioned jazz club only to discover that our band has become decidedly more punk than it is free jazz. Oh well – a little aesthetic boundary-pushing never hurt anyone.

Loud charts return next week.

“Church of the Air” Montreal Sessions: Live In-Studio from THE MOMENT, Guest Host

The Moment

Today from 3-5pm, Year of Glad’s Alexandre Bergeron brings us another amazing week of programming.   Sam Rosenberg (from locals Slight, Late Lunch, etc) will co-host this week and “share his thoughts on urban decay and dance music.”  Sam R being one of the better DJs the writer of this blog post has ever seen, should make for some A+ radio.  Finally, Montreal supergroup of sorts The Moment will be performing live in-studio.  The band features James Irwin (whose solo album Western Transit was called “the best LP of any unsigned act in Montreal” by Sean of Said The Gramophone), Adam Waito (Adam and the Amethysts), and Nic Scribner (Clues).  Don’t miss it.
