It was Nuit Blanche here in Montreal over the weekend and I ventured downtown into the madness to catch CKUT favourite Drainolith play in a gallery filled with eerie coloured lights and patterned stalactites strung up from the ceiling: serious psych goodness on many different levels. The nights leading up to Nuit Blanche were spent playing and watching lots of other great music: Special Noise, Astral Gunk, H. de Heutz, Blue Hawaii, Mark Molnar all in the span of two evenings spent racing between living rooms, lofts, and cafes. Made me long for the clear streets that will make biking between adventures so much easier — counting down the days till the snow disappears.
Also, we kick off a new month of our artist-in-residency radio program the Montreal Sessions today and we are seriously thrilled to have Constellation Records in as March’s curator. Tune in every Tuesday from 3-5pm EST, it’ll be some good stuff.
