FILL THE MUSIC BOX

Here’s a neat contest we thought you might wanna know about courtesy of our buds over at the MUTEK festival. Enjoy!

  • “FILL THE MUSIC BOX” calls on young artists under the age of 30 and living in Quebec and Ontario to create an original soundtrack for a small but valuable space, the iconic monolith at the center of our festival’s image this year.
  • Participants must send an original composition, lasting between 3 and 60 minutes, accompanied by the completed application form, proof of date of birth and residence.
  • The competition is open from April 2 to May 2, 2012.A jury (representing the fields of radio, sound creation and MUTEK) will select ten original works that will soundtrack the monolith (photo enclosed), to be presented at the MUTEK festival in a central, high-traffic location.
  • During the five-day festival, the public will have to vote for three winners. The 10 compositions selected will be revealed May 29 on the MUTEK website.  The announcement of the three winners selected by audience vote will be revealed on the MUTEK website on June 3, 2012, by 8pm.

If You Got Eyes

If you wanna, I suggest checking out the show archives for CKUT’s mid-week, mid-day free form collective music show, If You Got Ears (Wednesdays 12-2pm). Really cool stuff turns up on IFGE, as the blog details, and this week’s edition featuring new collective member Caitlin was an example of that!
